Nick grew up in Wellington, NSW, Australia a small regional community in country NSW with a population of 10,000.
Nick was educated at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Wellington from Kindergarten to Year 10 where he was the School Captain. Nick completed the Higher School Certificate at Dubbo College Senior Campus, and was the College Vice-Captain and 2016 School Dux. Nick is continuing his education at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia and is a first year student studying a Bachelor of Laws with Bachelor of Media, he was accepted into the university through the Global Leadership Entry Program and is a recipient of the Macquarie University and Dunmore Lang College Rural and Regional Scholarship.
Nick’s mother Nerida had a career as a successful insurance underwriter and was a natural talented athlete competing at state level track and field and touch football. His father Brett had a 32-year-career in the Royal Australia Navy, discharging as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, he spent many years at sea conducting border protection and fisheries patrols, maintaining Australian interests.
Nick enjoys sports, having success at state level in soccer, track and field and touch football, he currently holds a level 3 soccer referee qualification. In 2014, Nick was awarded the Pierre de Coubertin Award by the Australian Olympic Committee that recognises students that demonstrate values that are consistent with the Olympic Movement through participation in sporting activities.
In 2016, Nick was awarded the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award that recognises students that demonstrate leadership in both the school and broader community. Also in 2016, Nick was a participant at the district level of the Australian Lions Youth of the Year Competition, aimed to develop leadership in conjunction with other citizenship qualities in youth.
Nick has two sisters, Brianna and Kimberly who are attending Hunter Sports High School, Newcastle, Australia in the Talented Sports Program. In his spare time Nick enjoys reading, and has a keen interest in world politics, and also advocating for youth and young people.
